Hi Alex, your support is on Thursday 24 September, 9am to 12pm with Jess.

Send-only texts. Clients cannot reply to this sender.

What are client SMS reminders?

Sparks Provider uses your roster to send clients a text about their upcoming support. Choose how far ahead to send it and personalise the wording. It is an optional part of your Provider setup, with SMS credits bought separately.

A little less on your mind

The reminder shouldn't depend on you remembering.

Set up scheduled texts in Provider, then let the roster supply the shift details. No separate list to work through on your phone.

Already using Provider? Open Business

In your browser, go to Business → Text reminders.

  1. 01

    Choose when to remind clients.

Check their mobile numbers, buy SMS credits and enable scheduled texts. Set how many days ahead you want the reminder sent.

  2. 02

Make the message sound like you.

Edit the wording and include your business contact details. Provider fills in the client, day, time and worker from the roster.

Scheduled reminders run at 7am AEST. You can see what was sent and check the delivery status in the client's message history.

One credit = one SMS part. Longer messages and some special characters use more parts. Check the credit cost in Provider before a manual send; scheduled message costs depend on the final wording and shift details.

Worth knowing

A few practical questions.

Timing, replies, credits and where to find things.

Are reminders included in the $499 subscription?

Email reminders are included at no extra cost. SMS is optional and uses credits purchased separately: 1,000 for $129, 2,500 for $300 or 5,000 for $600 AUD, including GST. One credit covers one SMS part, not necessarily a whole message. Longer messages and some special characters use more parts. Credits do not expire.

Does the client need the Sparks Provider app?

No. The reminder arrives as a normal text message on their mobile phone. Save a valid Australian mobile number for the client and check it before enabling reminders. These are client reminders; workers access their own roster in Provider.

When are scheduled client reminders sent?

You choose how many days before the shift to send the reminder in Client reminders. Scheduled reminders run at 7am AEST (Brisbane time), including during daylight saving elsewhere in Australia. You can also send a shift reminder manually when you need to.

Can clients reply to the text?

No. Texts come from SPARKSPROV, a send-only sender. They include NOREPLY. Include your business contact number so clients know how to get in touch about questions or changes. This is a reminder service, not a two-way inbox.

Are email reminders free, and can I use them without SMS?

Yes. Email reminders are included in your Provider subscription at no extra cost. You can use email on its own without buying SMS credits, or choose “Send an email as well” for scheduled email and SMS reminders together. With SMS on, email is also the fallback when a text cannot be sent or credits run out, provided the client has an email address saved. Check message history if a send is still being checked rather than sending it again.

Can I see whether a reminder was delivered?

You can see the message and its delivery status in Provider. “Sent to carrier” is different from “Delivered”, and neither tells you whether the client has read it. Client messages appear under Notes → Messages in their participant profile. Texts sent directly to a number appear in Recent texts in Business → Text reminders.

Where do I set up SMS reminders?

Sign in to Sparks Provider in your browser and open Business → Text reminders. Buy credits, check the wording and contact details, and enable scheduled texts. Set the days ahead in Client reminders. Manage SMS in the browser; SMS management is not yet available inside the installed iPhone or Android app.
